EUROPE DAY MAY 8TH:
In Europe this day is celebrated as a national holiday. It marks the end of world war two, when millions of people had died and normality began to return. Usually there is a march past the European Peace Museum in Betete by local dignitaries and the Mayor. There are still people here in the village who remember the German occupation and the mother of one of my students was born in the local school before the war, where her own mother was headmistress. LOCK DOWN IN FRANCE For 8 weeks or so we have been disallowed from travelling far, and have had to stay mainly at home, but from11 we are gradually having these restrictions lifted. It will be a chance to go further for walks and to explore the countryside more etc. as my favourite local beauty spot has been out of bounds during this time. Let us hope the scientists advising the French government have got this right and that it will not lead to a huge new spike of deaths. DEATHS SO FAR IN EUROPE Since February 2020 there have been 147,418 deaths in Europe overall due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), with the most deaths occurring in the United Kingdom at 30,076. France has had 25,201 deaths, Italy 29,079 and Spain 25,428. Germany however has had only 6,993. Why has Germany had so few deaths relatively speaking (8 out of every 100,000 inhabitants) ? And why has Greece only had 150 so far? And Denmark only 450 ? Why has the UK had so many given that it arrived in the country later than Italy ? No doubt epidemiologists will be poring over these questions for years to come. We should remember it was a great Italian doctor who helped first invent Epidemiology as a science, Dr. B. Rammazino of Modena. LETTERS SENT TO DISCOVER THE CAUSES IIPSGP Director has been busy writing to responsible authorities to try to establish beyond a shadow of doubt whether the COVID 19 has escaped from a lab and is a human enhanced creation, and if so where from ? In order to clarify this, the Bioweapons convention mechanism empowers the UN to legally inspect all bioweapons capable labs in member countries (including China, UK, USA, France etc.) and we have requested the Canadian government to action this at the UN level. All WIF coordinators can do the same. The Bioweapons Convention text is given in full in our Little Book of Peace Declarations, recently published. One letter has been sent to Pope Francis asking him to establish a Commission of Inquiry at the Pala Academy of Sciences into the origins of this coronavirus epidemic, since secular scientists simply either do not know or are unwilling or afraid to tell the truth. The letter also recommends introducing a new Oath for every science graduate in Catholic (and other) universities not to misuse their technical knowledge to help make weapons of mass destruction. Scientists for Global Responsibility have been asking for this also for years. PEACE INTELLECTUAL OF THE MONTH The very first journal on peace in Europe was founded by Eugenie Niboyet (1796-1883) as La Paix des Deux Mondes in 1844, when she also founded the first Pan-European Peace Society that campaigned for an end to war. Eugenie attended an important peace congress in London in 1844 and worked with others in France and Europe to campaign for peace and for the emancipation of women, being influenced as she was by both Christian teachings and also the socialist vision of St Simon the great French intellectual founder of socialism (along with Robert Owen of Wales). She later attended the Paris Congress of the Friends of Peace in 1878 and spent her entire life campaigning for peace, having grown up in the southern French city of Montpelier, in a family who had supported Napoleon’s reforms of French society (her father was a medical doctor). She was a Protestant Christian influenced by Saint Simon and feminist socialism, and got involved in many social issues: prison reform; education reform; and the abolition of slavery in the French colonies. She was friends with philosopher Charles Fourier, who presented the treatment of women as the truest measure of social progress and also Flora Tristan y Cuzco and many other socialists and peace activists. The revolution of 1848 gave new hope to feminism, including the lifting of restrictions on meetings, thereby allowing the development of groups that advocated for women's rights. In March 1848, Eugénie Niboyet founded and ran a newspaper dealing only with women’s issues. The Voice of Women (La Voix des femmes), subtitled "a socialist and political newspaper representing all women’s interests," which was the first French feminist daily newspaper. Nowadays all but forgotten except by historians, she was a pioneer in her day as a holistic peace thinker in Europe. GLOBAL GREEN UNIVERSITY THE website is up and running again after a revamp and now carries updates of some of our major works (Das Kapital), Quran, Gospels, Enoch and also a new commentary on the Dhammapada, the main Buddhist text. A commentary on the Upanishads is also underway etc. All these can be heard for a small monthly subscription at www.globalgreenuniversity.com A LITTLE BOOK OF PEACE DECLARATIONS 1707-2020, and 1142-2020 2 Vols This major project has come to fruition in May 2020 with the publication of these two epic studies that include Native American peoples (1142), USA Declaration of Independence, the Declaration of the Rights of Man (1789), the UN, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), UNESCO, Climate change, The Helsinki Final Act (1975), Non-Aligned Movement, China-India, various Nuclear Weapons Treaties, Women's Right, the Middle East, The International Labour Organisation, The Versailles Treaty and the League of Nations, the Institute for Intellectual Cooperation, world federal government etc. Several of the founding declarations of the WIF are also included as well as three constitutions for world governance supported by three colleagues on our global governing board. WORLD INTELLECTUAL FORUM EUROPE If we manage to get out of lock down and end the coronavirus crisis sufficiently for international travel, we hope to have a further WIF meeting in France, as part of the launch of the International Historical Commission into 9/11. This will be the first ever historical inquiry into the real facts surround the attacks on the USA on September 11, 2001. Historians worldwide are being invited to participate either in person or virtually, on Friday September 11. We intend to have a WIF event the following day, Saturday September 12. WIF European coordinators and international colleagues are warmly invited to attend. The launch of the Historical Commission follows the publication of the study Prolegomena To A History Of 9/11: A Historical And Philosophical Study Of 9/11 (2 Vols, 2019). CORONAVIRUS A BIOWEAPON ? The Bioweapons convention outlaws all tinkering with nature to create bioweapons. It is vital we discover if the current panedemic was in fact caused by illegal tinkering, or rule it out. Only official UN inspections can establish this. This is something WIF is pursuing via various channels. SUBMISSIONS FOR NEXT ISSUE: [email protected]
